Using: Fentum spading and seeding combination
Loonbedrijf Guiljam in Sint Annaland bought a new Fentum spading and seeding combination for the 2023 season. The arable farm and agricultural contractor, mainly growing potatoes, onions, beet and carrots, works on a wide variety of soil types.
The main reasons for choosing the Fentum spading machine were the machine's innovations and the commitment of Van Eijzeren. A major advantage of a spading and seeding combination is sowing in a single pass. Compared with ploughing, seedbed preparation and sowing, there is never a risk of rain falling between passes.
"We are much more efficient this way. We sometimes spade and sow almost 15 hectares in one day, which was unthinkable with ploughing and sowing with one driver."
— John Guiljam
John Guiljam: "We first had a 3 metre combination but recently traded it in for a 3.5 metre combination. We are very happy with the choice for 3.5 metres. In wet conditions, the spading machine levels out any tractor wheelings, giving you an even seedbed. We have now spaded around 60 hectares and so far we are satisfied with the Fentum spading machine!"
