Loonbedrijf Gebr. van den Dries

Using: Fentum spading machine

Agricultural contractor Gebr. van den Dries from 's-Heerenhoek has been working with the Fentum spading machine for three seasons. The contractor's work includes manure spreading and sowing winter wheat, and the company has extensive experience with tillage machines.

Driver Izak Dekker explains why they are so satisfied: the machine does not clog, not even along ditch banks or on gladiolus fields with lots of leaf residue. The open frame and the clever design of the underside ensure that soil always falls off again.

"We have spaded over 365 hectares without a single problem. I expect the next 365 hectares to go just as well. You could easily do a thousand hectares with it."

— Izak Dekker, Loonbedrijf Gebr. van den Dries

Izak: "The Fentum spading machine works faster than other machines. The average forward speed is around 3.5 kilometres per hour. The secret lies in the underside of the machine: where other machines have a ledge on which soil builds up, on the Fentum the soil falls straight off again. If no soil gets in, it cannot clog."

"With our previous machine, drinking coffee was a nightmare — you had to hold on to your cup. Now you can drink your coffee in peace. Three years ago, with the previous machine, we had 400 hectares to do and spent three days and nights in the workshop. Four or five bearings per season. We don't have that at all any more."
